T&A Hand Readers

WHAT IS A HAND READER?

Part of our Time and Attendance solutions, hand readers are an advanced biometric technology that are being increasingly used in time and attendance systems. With their ability to accurately and quickly identify individuals based on the unique features of their hand, these devices have become an essential tool for organizations looking to streamline their time tracking and payroll processes. This biometric tool for time and attendance (T&A) uses hand geometry to take distinct measurements of employee's hand (size and shape), including length and width of the hand.

In 1991, AIS introduced the first biometric hand reader device in Malta. Since then, biometric technology has grown with the introduction of other biometric technologies including face and fingerprint technologies. After all these years, the hand reader remains a reliable, affordable and easy to use Time & Attendance solution.

We remain the leading supplier of hand readers in Malta, supplying top-quality devices from Schlage.

HOW DO HAND CARD READERS WORK?

Hand readers are designed to capture the unique features of an individual's hand, such as the shape and size of their fingers and the patterns of their veins. These features are then converted into a mathematical algorithm, which is stored in a database and used to verify the identity of the individual each time they scan their hand.

To use a hand reader, an individual simply places their hand on the scanner and waits for the device to scan their hand. The scanner uses near-infrared light to illuminate the hand, which allows it to capture a clear image of the hand's features. The scanner then compares this image to the stored algorithm in the database to verify the individual's identity.

BENEFITS

Hand readers have become an essential tool in time and attendance management systems, offering many benefits to organisations seeking to streamline their payroll processes and improve their overall workforce efficiency. AIS Technology is a leading local provider of hand readers and associated software solutions, and we believe that every business can benefit from using our products. Here are some of the key advantages of hand readers in time and attendance management:

  1. Accurate Timekeeping: Hand readers provide a highly accurate way to track employee attendance, eliminating the possibility of time fraud or other forms of time theft. The biometric technology used in our hand readers ensures that only authorized employees can access the system, and it is impossible to clock in or out for someone else.

  2. Improved Efficiency: Hand readers automate the timekeeping process, freeing up HR personnel to focus on other areas of the business. Additionally, the software can automatically calculate employee hours worked, reducing the time required to manually calculate payroll.

  3. Reduced Payroll Errors: Because hand readers provide accurate timekeeping and automated payroll calculations, the risk of errors is greatly reduced. This helps to ensure that employees are paid correctly and on time, improving overall employee satisfaction.

  4. Increased Productivity: When employees know that their time is being accurately tracked, they are more likely to arrive on time and stay focused throughout their shift. This can help to boost productivity and ultimately lead to better business outcomes.

  5. Simplified Compliance: AIS Technology's hand readers come equipped with compliance features that help businesses comply with labor laws and regulations. This can help to avoid costly fines and other penalties associated with non-compliance.

  6. Greater Security: Hand readers provide an added layer of security to the time and attendance management process. By using biometric technology, only authorised employees are able to access the system, reducing the risk of unauthorized access or data breaches.

  7. Customisable: AIS Technology's hand readers are highly customisable, allowing businesses to tailor the system to their unique needs. This includes the ability to set up different access levels for different employees, track overtime and other custom reporting features.

  8. Cost-Effective: Compared to traditional timekeeping methods, hand readers offer a cost-effective solution that can save businesses money over the long-term. With reduced payroll errors and increased efficiency, the investment in hand readers can pay for itself in a relatively short amount of time.

From improved accuracy and efficiency to greater security and compliance, AIS Technology's hand readers are designed to help businesses of all sizes improve their overall workforce management.
