Air Quality Monitoring

air quality monitoring

The Solution

We spend up to 90% of our time indoors. Unlike outdoor air, indoor air tends to be continuously recycled, causing it to trap pollutants and allowing them to build up within these confined spaces.

Accurate indoor air quality monitoring ensures that the level and nature of pollutants are constantly kept in check, allowing for timely corrective action when needed. Effective air quality monitoring (IAQ), building operators can ensure healthier spaces with cleaner air, free from potentially harmful chemicals and pollutants.

Some of the more typical applications for indoor air quality monitoring include:

  • IAQ complaint investigation and analysis

  • HVAC (heating, ventilation, and cooling) system performance monitoring

  • Air quality engineering analysis

  • Mould investigation and remediation

  • Health and comfort assessment

AIS can install an air quality monitoring solution across a variety of premises such as airport lounges, shopping malls, offices, schools, kindergartens, hospitals, elderly care facilities to mention a few.

How it works

Our IoT solution for monitoring air quality uses IoT sensors to collect real-time indoor air quality data, for example:

  • Temperature

  • Humidity

  • CO₂

  • Pressure

  • TVOC

  • Particulate matter (in µ/m2)

The sensors we use depend on your specific use case and what metrics you want to monitor. The collected data is sent via an LPWAN (Low Power Wide Area Networks) connection to our cloud-based interface.

The Benefits

Typical symptoms associated with poor indoor air quality include eye, nose, and throat irritation, headache, nausea, dizziness, and fatigue. In some cases, exposure to indoor air pollution can even lead to acute and chronic respiratory illnesses, including asthma, lung cancer, pneumonia, systemic hypertension, and others.

Our IAQ monitoring solutions help to:

  • Ensure occupant health

  • Reduce allergies

  • Reduce nausea & headaches

  • Reduce potential infectious diseases

  • Improve health and well-being

Air quality in the workplace is an important factor and poor IAQ can contribute to decreased productivity, absences, and even possible litigation. By effectively monitoring indoor air quality, employers can ensure workers can enjoy healthier spaces with cleaner air, free from potentially harmful chemicals and pollutants. As a result, employers report higher retention levels, increased productivity, and a reduction in absences.
